The State of Florida has mandated that every licensed contractor earn 14 hours of continuing education credit during a two-year license cycle. August 31 - even years is the deadline for certified contractors (CCC). August 31 - odd years is the deadline for registered contractors (RC). Six of the 14 hours are mandatory: 1.0 hour workplace safety training (WPS), 1.0 hour of workers' compensation (WC), 1.0 hour of business practice training (BSP), 1.0 of advanced code (ADV), 1.0 hour in laws & rules (L&R) and 1.0 hour in wind mitigation (WMM). Hours cannot be carried over into the next two-year cycle. Inactive license holders must also acquire continuing education credits in order to activate their license.
