The qualifying deadline for the Florida Senate and the Florida House of Representatives concluded on June 12, 2026. Several incumbents were automatically reelected after no candidates qualified to challenge them in either the primary or general election.

One of the developing stories following qualifying is the status of two-term incumbent Representative Paula Stark, who represents House District 47, covering portions of Orange and Osceola Counties. Stark was disqualified from qualifying due to issues related to her Form 6 financial disclosure submission. She subsequently filed a lawsuit seeking reinstatement on the ballot; however, on July 9, Leon County Circuit Court Judge Joshua Hawkes rejected her challenge.
On July 17, Stark retained Anthony Sabatini to lead her legal efforts challenging the decision. If the ruling stands, the District 47 seat would automatically shift to the Democrats, as Stark was the only Republican candidate in the race. Because no Republican candidate appears on the ballot, the August 18 Democratic Primary for House District 47 will be open to voters of all party affiliations. The election for the House District 47 seat will be contested between Jorge Figueroa and Anthony Nieves.
Florida’s primary election will be held on August 18, 2026, and the general election will take place on November 3, 2026.
