RECRUITMENT NOTES:
The Senior Code Officer is a highly responsible and technically skilled professional position within the Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources’ Board and Code Administration Division. This role serves as a liaison between Miami-Dade County, municipal building departments, certified building officials, licensed contractors, law enforcement agencies, and the manufacturing and construction sectors. The Senior Code Officer provides regulatory oversight to ensure the highest standards of safety and compliance across the county’s building and construction landscape.
Additionally, this role plans, organizes, and leads advanced technical and professional staff in the building trades as they perform operational functions. Incumbents also contribute to the development of the Florida Building Code, including provisions for the High Velocity Hurricane Zone, and provide both administrative and technical support to the Board of Rules and Appeals (BORA).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED. Five years of experience inspecting roofing construction or examining plans. Two years of supervisory experience in the construction industry required. Must possess a Florida or Miami-Dade County Roofing Contractor's License or a Florida Professional Engineer's License or a Florida Registered Architect License maintained for a minimum of five years. All applicants qualifying for employment will be subject to extensive background screening and will be required to inactivate their certification at their own expense upon employment.
